The recently concluded Federal election has seen a change in Government, a new ministry and, therefore, a shift in policy. Closer to home, a new Chief Minister has been sworn in, along with a few changes to the cabinet and the reshuffling of portfolios amongst Ministers.
The sense of optimism toward the Territory remains strong and even across our offices, you don’t have to look far to see why. There is a fast-growing pipeline of major projects across every sector at various stages of approval.
The volume of work packages and briefings being facilitated by ICN is nearing that which we experienced during the early days of INPEX. As such, we’ve recently found ourselves amongst many other local businesses in the recruitment market as we grow our team in preparation for the emerging ‘good times’ ahead.
I’ll take the opportunity to urge all ICN users to ensure their profiles are updated and accurately reflect their capabilities and recently completed projects. In return, our staff will be able to represent your business better and position the capability of Territory businesses more effectively amongst emerging supply chains and market opportunities.

From Katherine
Earlier in the month Katherine hosted the Katherine andBarkly Region Major Projects Conference. Over two days, there were presentations from various businesses and government representatives outlining the significant pipeline of major projects across the two regions. The projects are forecasted to have a significant impact on the Northern Territory economy and provide opportunities for businesses within the region.
Many of the presenters highlighted the use of the ICN Gateway and how this will be a key means of communication for all project activity. To receive updates, businesses first need to make sure they have set-up a free profile and have set notifications accordingly. Businesses are also reminded to go to the various project landing pages and make an Expression of Interest (EOI) for general updates to receive reminders.
If you feel your profile may need updating, or you're unclear about how to set up notifications or make an EOI please let me know. I’ll make time to meet with you and assist in any way I can. Please remember, that I am here as a resource to help you in all things ICN. I can be contacted either on 0409 527 604 or by email colin.abbott@icnnt.org.au.
All the best, Colin Abbott
